PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
One of the primary strategies for disseminating the new understandings developed in the living laboratory of CAPE's partnerships is through collaborations.
CAPE has long recognized the value of partnerships with other programs, initiatives, and organizations and has consciously sought to "bring the arts to the table" in broad-based discussions about school improvement. Through these collaborations, CAPE believes that it has significantly contributed to the understanding of the arts' role in educational improvement at the local, national, and international levels.

MUSIC-IN-EDUCATION NATIONAL CONSORTIUM (MIENC)
CAPE is especially proud to be one of the founders of the Music-in-Education National Consortium, a network that participates in professional development exchanges, convenes conferences, and publishes the Journal for Music-in-Education with the New England Conservatory. The consortium devotes special attention to the development of university students in colleges of music and in colleges of education as guided interns in on-the-ground arts education partnerships. MIENC is consulting with the Los Angeles Unified School District on the re-design of its arts education programming and policies.

The MIENC website (www.music-in-education.org) includes downloadable articles, videos, Power Point presentations, and audio files.
THE ARTS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP (AEP)
The Arts Education Partnership is a national membership organization that convenes government, education, foundation, and program leaders to develop policy and practice in arts education. CAPE is an active member of AEP. AEP commissions and publishes major publications in the field. CAPE is a frequent presenter and facilitator at AEP meetings.

Dr. Gail Burnaford recently presented a literature review of research on arts integration. CAPE is included in this document, along with many other quality programs and projects. This publication also provides a some history and background of arts integration and a discussion of best practices and quality programs.

Arts Integration: Frameworks, Research & Practice is downloadable for free as a PDF file at aep-arts.org. A print copy is available for $20.
