Building Community, Curriculum and Leadership through the Arts (BCCLA) is a three-year project developed by The Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster Initiative at CPS in partnership with Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education.
Over the course of this three-year grant, the goals of the program are focused on strengthening the school in the areas of curriculum, community, and leadership. The BCCLA project is made possible with a 3-year grant from the U. S. Education Department's Professional Development for Arts Educators program. BCCLA provides ongoing support and intensive professional development of arts teachers in the 59 CPS Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster (FPAMC) elementary schools. This project aims to achieve significant school-wide growth in the areas of curriculum, community and teacher leadership. To this end, arts teachers will undergo intensive professional development in their roles as Magnet Cluster Lead Teachers. As they develop their own leadership skills, they will pass their training on to classroom teachers in their schools to build a stronger curriculum and community within the schools through the arts.
