HOW CAPE'S PLANNING PROCESS WORKS Participants in CAPE's planning process will develop a concrete plan of action by answering such questions as: Who would make a good partner? What are our shared goals? Which teachers and artists will form the core constituency for change? How will this program fit within the patchwork of programs already operating in our school? How will this program align with state instruction standards and our schoolÕs curriculum? What are our specific short term and long-term objectives? How will fundamental decisions be made inside the partnership? How much will this cost? This process will help schools move from "projects" to "programs," and will help arts organizations develop meaningful relationships with schools. The entire process takes approximately 15 to 18 hours spread across several meetings, laid out as follows: |
Stage 1: Plan to plan. CAPE will hold a meeting with school leadership, key teachers, parent leaders, and artist partners to formulate a planning framework. Stage 2: Set priorities and build consensus. CAPE will facilitate a meeting for a group of stakeholders (up to 50 people) to establish areas of importance, to find commonality among partners, and to brainstorm action plans. Stage 3: Create action plans. The key stakeholders will gather to review data collected during stage 2, to finalize goals and objectives, and to develop detailed action plans. Stage 4: Review, assessment and follow up. CAPE will facilitate a meeting approximately six months after the development of the plan to assess and celebrate progress made towards goals. FEES FOR CAPE'S PLANNING PROCESS The fees for this planning process begin at $3,000, not including meeting space rental (if required), materials & supplies. Fees for projects not in Chicago begin at $4,000, not including travel. For more information, please contact CAPE at or call 312/870-6140. |
