CAPE'S PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HALF DAY WORKSHOPS, 2004-2005
CAPE staff and artists bring to your school half-day workshops that will introduce your faculty to the enriching educational capacities of arts integration. Workshops can be held after school, during a professional development day, or on a weekend, based on the availability of presenters.

INTRODUCTION TO ARTS INTEGRATION
What is arts integration? How is it different from a typical artist residency? How can the arts enhance learning in academic areas? How do teachers and artists collaborate? How does arts integration reach the "unreachable" student? These questions and more are answered in the introductory discussion.

INTRODUCTION TO VISUAL ARTS INTEGRATION
Effective examples of past CAPE work in visual art integration beautifully illustrate how the processes of visual art link with the investigative thought processes in academic learning. Teachers will engage in a visual arts integration activity.

INTRODUCTION TO DANCE INTEGRATION
The understanding of the body and its potential, and its choreographed movement in space, can have a tremendous impact of student learning, concentration, and disciplined investigation of subjects. This workshop will look at past examples, and lead teachers in a movement exercise.

INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE INTEGRATION
Creating drama from academic subjects allows core content to truly resonate with students, as they research, write, stage, and perform. Highlights of CAPE's extensive work in theatre integration will be discussed, and teachers will enjoy theatre exercises.
INCORPORATING DIGITAL MUSIC INTO YOUR SCHOOL'S MUSIC CURRICULUM
Kids are incredibly adept at using new technology to create art. And not surprisingly, digital music is everywhere today in popular music. Accomplished teacher Nick Jaffe will instruct your arts team on how to get started with incorporating digital recording techniques, computer-assisted composition, and how to address science standards within a digital music program.

GRANTWRITING AND FUND RAISING FOR SCHOOLS AND ARTS PARTNERSHIPS
Increasingly, schools are required to seek outside funds for arts programs. Writing grants and holding fundraisers are but a few examples of how to gain extra support for your school. This three-hour course will provide participants an overview of the fund raising process, an outline for a grant proposal, a discussion of grant "lingo," and a list of grant sources. In addition, participants will learn how to build on the detailed information in the SIPAAA (School Improvement Planning for Advancing Academic Achievement) to write grants.

FEES
Half-day workshops are $500 each for a group of up to 30 individuals, including one to two presenters, materials, supplies and refreshments discussed, and teachers will enjoy theatre exercises.
