CPS Arts Educators
CAPE’s partner for this project is the Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster Program of Chicago Public Schools.
The FPAMCP network of 58 schools from every neighborhood in Chicago is dedicated to providing high-quality, arts integrated teaching and learning opportunities for students in a neighborhood school setting. Each FPAMCP school has two arts educators on staff who teach the various arts disciplines (music, theater, visual arts, dance or media) as well as collaborate with fellow faculty members to create arts integrated curricula that is tied to students’ learning needs in a range of curriculum areas.
Through professional development, arts educators share best practices, critique each others’ work, and build their leadership skills. In addition, FPAMCP has established guidelines and approaches for overall school improvement, which align with the Chicago Public Schools’ performance goals.
